If you are tired of being handed a list of foods to avoid and sent on your way, you are in the right place.
We start with your labs, your life, and how much cooking you actually want to do. Sometimes the answer is very little, and that is fine. Healthy food does not have to be a gourmet project.

Kidney Nutrition in Wilmington
Kidney care is the center of our practice. Whether you have just been told your kidney function is declining or you have passed more kidney stones than you care to count, you deserve more than a photocopied handout.

Chronic kidney disease
We help you understand what your labs are actually telling you and adjust your plan as they change.
Depending on your stage and your numbers, that might involve protein, potassium, phosphorus, or sodium. Very often it involves fewer restrictions than you were expecting.
If you are also managing diabetes or blood pressure, we build one plan that covers all of it, instead of three that contradict each other.

Kidney stones
Southeastern North Carolina sits inside what is often called the kidney stone belt, a band of Southern states with higher stone rates than the rest of the country.
Long, humid coastal summers make it easy to fall behind on fluids, and a few regional favorites deserve a closer look if you form stones.
Brewed tea is a meaningful source of oxalate, which matters if sweet tea comes by the pitcher in your house.
Cured and smoked meats and restaurant meals can carry more sodium than you would guess. Shrimp and other shellfish are high in purines, which matters for uric acid stones.
None of that means giving up the food you love.
It means knowing which changes matter for your type of stone and your labs, and skipping the ones that do not.

Working with your doctors
With your permission, we send visit notes to your nephrologist, urologist, or primary care doctor, so everyone is working from the same plan.

More Ways We Help Wilmington Adults
We work with adults 18 and older. We are not the right fit for weight loss programs, sports nutrition, or care for children and teens, and we are always glad to point you toward someone who is.
For the brain that forgets lunch until 4 pm, gets overwhelmed at the grocery store, or eats the same three safe foods. Strategies built for how you actually function.
Steady blood sugar and healthier numbers without giving up every food you grew up with. (links to /diabetes-heart-nutrition)
Shifting hormones, new lab results, and advice that contradicts itself. We help you sort out what matters for bone health, cholesterol, and blood sugar.
Disordered eating and chronic dieting
Support for binge eating, years of dieting, and adults who are medically stable in recovery.
Visiting Our Wilmington Office
Our office is on Chestnut Street in downtown Wilmington, a short drive from Leland across the river and easy to reach from Hampstead, Wrightsville Beach, Carolina Beach, Kure Beach, Porters Neck, Ogden, Castle Hayne, Burgaw, and Southport.

Prefer telehealth?
You do not have to choose one or the other.
Some clients come in for a first visit and do follow ups from home or work. Others never set foot in the office.
Telehealth is available anywhere in North Carolina, so if you live in Jacksonville, Raleigh, or the Outer Banks, you can work with us too.

Is this the right fit?
We are a great fit for adults who want practical, realistic help, especially if you are fed up with being told what to eat.
You might be newly diagnosed and overwhelmed, years into a condition and tired of rules that do not fit your life, or somewhere in between.
We are not the right fit for weight loss programs, sports nutrition, children and teens, or eating disorders that need a higher level of care. If that is what you are looking for, we are happy to help you find the right person.
